Swing your partner round and round!
Although it may not be "your thing" as some RYLA conferees had said, once they found out about the western event, square dancing here at the Rotary Youth Leadership Award Conference, is like no other. The goal of the activity was to allow not only the conferees but the counselors to meet new people to become more comfortable in our friendly environment. Thanks to Jeff Walker and his accompanying band, we were able to not only learn to square dance but we also enjoyed traditional music while introducing ourselves to new conferees. Of course, there were conferees who complained about how badly their feet hurt after the event, but it was still well worth it as the square dance was a great opportunity to create new friendships. Square dancing may not be most people's cup of tea, but it was definitely an amazing experience for all RYLA participants.
